Program Objective: Hands-on laboratory practice, classroom instruction and externships provide the practical training needed to excel in the field of dental assisting. The program includes training in the sterilization of instruments, creation and maintenance of patient records, preliminary examination procedures, appointment setting, patient rapport and post-operative oral healthcare.
- Provides students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required to pursue an entry-level position as a Dental Assistant.
- Prepares students to function effectively as members of the dental team and to perform general and specialty chairside procedures upon the successful completion of the program;
- Builds relationships with local dentists and community members to provide our students with support and outside resources.
- Ensures that faculty are up-to-date on current trends in dentistry, continuing education and teaching methodology.
Program Outcomes: The program provides students with training in soft skills, such as professionalism and patient contact, which are vital to be successful in the dental assisting field. Upon completion of the program, students receive a diploma and can seek entry-level positions as a dental assistant.
